The Old Man

Il Babbo,
Barbera d’Asti DOCG Superiore

A full bodied wine, full of black and red fruit.

Taste profile

By Decanter World Wine Award (2023): A multi-layered perfume of dried flowers, cherry compote and vibrant blueberry with a whisper of aromatic herbs; rounded and glycerol-rich with fruit driven tannins and a sumptuous acidity. Long and enduring with a savoury, toasty finish. Stunning!

By Luca Maroni (2018): Sensations- the extract of this sample reveals a spectacular mass of fruit. A high concentration and strength that give every sensorial reverberation of this wine a truly exceptional aromatic insistence and persistence. The gustatory softness is equally admirable, with all the verve of acidity and the dense texture of tannins, perfectly wrapped in a soft and persuasive black cherry pulp. Finally, hints of sweet spice balms that amplify the expressive roundness of an outstanding wine of absolute consistency. A great wine.

The Name: "il Babbo" - "the Father", or "What the Old Man Does is Always Right",  is one of the Hans Christian Anderson's tale. Click here to read more about the stories and how we name our wines.
